What we do
At Baxter Young we provide high quality off the shelf and custom made orthoses to help fulfil your treatment goals.
Foot Orthoses
These orthoses are more commonly known as insoles. Foot orthoses come in many different shapes and forms.
The purpose of a foot orthosis is to modify the pathological loading of a structure, in order to allow it to heal or prevent it from worsening. Whether that is by reducing the tissue stress, joint loading or both in some cases.
Lower Limb Orthoses
We prescribe and supply Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthoses (DAFO’s), Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO’s) and Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (KAFO’s) both off the shelf and bespoke from a variety of materials, such as thermoplastics and carbon fibre.
There are many reasons that you may need these orthoses. Through our assessment and discussion we will be able to prescribe the most suitable orthoses to help you achieve your goals.
3D Printing
In recent years technological advances have been made that allow orthoses to be manufactured from a 3D scan. We now have the option via Crispin Orthotics to prescribe 3D printed orthoses.
Footwear
We offer advice on a variety of footwear options for our clients. Footwear is an essential part of a lower limb orthotic prescription and should be stylish and comfortable.
Knee Bracing
We specialise in osteoarthritis and ligament knee bracing. Prescribed to improve pain and provide protection for activities of daily living alongside sporting activities.
SDR
Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR)
Our client base includes individuals who have undergone SDR surgery. We work with clients, their families and therapists, providing orthotic input to assist with rehabilitation goals and maximise participation.
